“Each day I hope to remind everyone of the service and sacrifice of those who have gone before us to preserve our way of life, our freedom. With The Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall coming to town, it is a time for us as citizens of this great nation to honor every name on the Wall along with the Gold Star Families.”-Hayley Falk  Founder Because of the Brave

The Wall is a 3/5 scale replica of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington D.C. It stands six feet tall at the center and covers almost 300 feet from end to end. This Traveling Memorial stands as a moving reminder of the great sacrifices made during the Vietnam War. It was made for the purpose of helping heal and rekindle friendships and to allow people the opportunity to visit loved ones in their hometown who otherwise may not be able to make the trip to Washington.

The Wall will be on display at Bartlem Park, 520 South Main Street Cheshire. We invite everyone to join us to pay tribute to the names on the Wall along with thanking and welcoming home our Vietnam Veterans. Come as a family, bring your children, so we can educate the next generation on service and sacrifice.

For more information about this event, including volunteer and sponsorship opportunities  email us at [email protected], or text/call (203)996-1453.

On October 9, 2020 Because of the Brave partnered with The Hometown Foundation and Town of Cheshire to host a birthday celebration for three local World War Two Veterans turning 100 years old.

Chief Ralph Rowland

Staff Sgt. Irvin Daubert

On December 19, 2020 Wreaths Across America was closed to the public so I have learned to adapt and overcome. The Cheshire Police Explorers along with members of my family came out to lay wreaths on graves of Veterans at a local cemetery. I am a firm believer in the mission of Wreaths Across America and their motto: Remember, Honor, Teach.

On March 29, 2021 Because of the Brave partnered with Rossini's Italian Restaurant and Pizza to commemorate National Vietnam War Veterans Day.

One of our pillars is educating youth. The week leading up to Memorial Day 2021 we were honored to teach our local Police Explorers group on Sacrifice and Memory. This lesson plan is part of the Congressional Medal of Honor Societies Character Development Program. These kids also learned about APK Charities and The Gold Star Families Memorial Monument Connecticut.

"If there is one thing we can do to keep the country free, it's to educate the next generation about the importance of

service and sacrifice."
